A Special Evening with David Brooks, 1990 World Champion of Public Speaking. Four score and seven years ago… We were stepping into greatness. Write it down.
Division D has rose colored glasses. That’s our great myth. Who needs pretty packaging? We are blessed. Put both feet forward. And win from within.
Area 43 asks, “What rule do you live by and why?” The top answer was the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” If you Win From Within, then you can have World Peace, because Nobody’s Perfect. Not even Thugs-N-Harmony. Let It Begin With Me and even a baby can be The Leader.
Division D made us “Feel the Love”! I had everyone make a promise (it’s about Keeping the Commitment). I’m excited about the new Pathways!
Sunset Speakers had our annual holiday party hosted by Heber at PR Bakery (it was a full plate). There may have been denials in the past, but there was no denying now of the Competent Communicator award for Shelisia! Getting a princess dollhouse may be the best gift of all (and we were in a giving mood, like cars, houses, and free trips)!
Words matter in Division D. The greatest risk is not tilting your rearview mirror and standing on one foot. Let the children come to me and my hand turns into a rod. Getting older with your mother can turn a hurricane into Merlot. The librarian can turn rowdy teens into scholars. Don’t get locked in with the snakes. That’s a reach.
Area 43 has dancing hearts. Thanks for stopping by my home with those nice slippers. They’re two sizes too small for me. The coon was perfect. Being in shape can be round. The professional librarian has the skills to turn teens to scholars. I may not be a doctor but I played one. For a bro, I’ll go to Paris.
You better show up at Area 42 or else we know someone who has an app to track you down. When the steering wheel comes off and the engine falls out, it’s time to get back on the bus. You may have to borrow a quarter from the panhandler. Hopefully you won’t be a little short.
Division D hosted the Toastmasters Leadership Institute at Indian River State College in Stuart, Florida. I’ve learned that I should look for the ask. I taught that you have to create the best club climate. We learned to replace the “I” with “we” to go from “ill” to “well”.
RiverWalk Toastmasters take public speaking to the next level! You do not want to deal with a penny in the throat. Remember 85%. Stare at them through the radio.
